Why is that all, well, most television dramas use shaky handheld cameras instead of a steadicam? Cop shows in particular, The Shield, Law and Order in its many varieties, all use shaky close-ups, with frequent movements and zooms. I esspecially hate the way Law and Order is shot, there's a shit load of scene changes, like 15 second scenes where the cops go and talk to some asshole in this sort of dry rapid back and forth type of dialog, than they jump to another scene where they're either following up on what the guy just told them or they're regrouping, consolidating what they've got so far. I can see how the camera movements give a sense of urgency or excitement that the overall lameness of the show couldn't capture, but man, law and order sucks. I've seen it like five times and its already cashed for me, its seems like there's alot of multi-episode character devolopment type things going on, I always thought that was lame. It signals that your individual episodes arn't interesting enough to draw in and keep veiwers so you have to use this sort of series long cliff hanger type thing. The one exception to this is Seinfeld, where the few multi-episode happenings (i.e. George getting married) build up to some ridiculously funny joke (i.e. Susan kicking the bucket after licking the cheap wedding invitations George bought). Cable sucks, by the way, so i'm getting rid of it. The only shows i like are Mythbusters, Dog, and Miami Ink, eveything else is cheap filler that watch simply because there's nothing better on and i'm paying $50 a month for that shit. When i called up to have my service discontinued the lady's all like "And may i ask why you've chosen to discontinue service?" so i'm like "Because i'm getting dish network, its cheaper and doesn't suck as much," than she says "well, if you stay on with Comcast we're prepared to offer you 3 free months of HBO", me: "Dish network gave me 3 free months of HBO and Starz for signing on for them, and i can keep Starz for the same price i'm paying Comcast for basic service," her: "Well, we would be willing to offer you the bla bla pack (one step above what i have) for only $2 more a month," me: "Dishnetwork is giving me a free DVD-R too" at this point i think i had her beat because she said "Comcast is sorry to be loosing a customer, blah, blah, blah". I'm not really getting dishnetwork by the way, but if you want to supe up your cable a little bit call your company and tell them that you are. |
